Miranda Sarah McCain - Senior Technical Designer

I design with a deep understanding of how things are made.
My work sits between intuitive design and considered structure. I have a strong instinct for trends, an ability to recognize patterns early and translate them into a brand’s vision. My instinctive approach is grounded in technical design, textile technology, and garment engineering, with a clear understanding of how a collection must function cohesively across silhouettes, materials, and brand identity. Expert in translating creative vision into production-ready garments through precise tech packs, pattern development, and factory communication.
I began my career as a designer’s assistant at 17 and, by 21, was teaching Fashion Technology at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked extensively with international designers, brands, and manufacturers across concept development, technical execution, manufacturing, and final product realization. This experience allows me to bridge creative and technical teams with clarity, accuracy, and intention.
In 2013, I founded Bali Design Consultant in response to the growing number of emerging brands entering manufacturing without the foundational knowledge needed to succeed. BDC functioned as both an educational platform and a full-service product development partner, supporting brands through design, sourcing, technical development, and production management. Through this work, I became a trusted bridge between clients and manufacturers, building workflows and communication systems that supported both creative integrity and efficient production.
I have worked extensively in East Asian manufacturing for over a decade, developing a deep understanding of the cultural, technical, and operational nuances of product development in this region. My clients spanned Australia, the United States, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Canada, Ireland, Kuwait, Qatar, and beyond, with work across womenswear, menswear, children’s wear, streetwear, lingerie, and swimwear.
At the core of my practice is the ability to see the big picture and break it down into clear, actionable systems. I instinctively identify inefficiencies, solve problems at their root, and communicate responsibilities with precision and respect. I bring a strong eye for design, color, and pattern recognition to every project, allowing me to assess trends, concepts, and market needs with both intuition and discipline.
